Pappalardo added: "we are extremely motivated to continue as we understand the importance of our role at the heart of the Mediterranean. We have created stable employment (approximately 100 employees within the Marina) and are generating economic benefits for the region, in turn translating into jobs and specialised expertises. It is with our commitment that we hope to secure a brighter future.”
Commitment to sustainability
Marina Genova has been investing in sustainable development and energy transition since 2019. The marina has undertaken projects to meet the needs of large vessels while prioritising environmental sustainability.
One of the marina’s initiatives is the installation of a photovoltaic system on the marina’s buildings. The system became operational in January 2025, and covers 7,000 square-metre with 800 solar panels capable of generating 500 MWh annually. The initiative contributes to the marina’s self-sufficiency while saving over 270 tonnes of CO₂ each year.
Marina Genova has partnered with Aqua superPower, a company specialising in marine-grade electric boat charging networks. The marina has installed two rapid charging stations for small and medium-sized electric vessels. The charging stations are classified for marine environments and can offer up to 350 kW of power that provides fast recharging.
The marina has also partnered with Drivalia, a mobility, leasing and rental company of the CA Auto Bank group. The collaboration installed three electric car charging stations with six charging points in its parking area, which are available for visitors and to the local community in Genoa Sestri Ponente.
Lastly, Marina Genova collaborated with LifeGate to add two Seabin devices to enhance microplastic collection. The devices have already collected over 900 kilograms of plastic and microplastics each.
Giuseppe Pappalardo further stated, "The upcoming 2025 yachting season finds us in full operation thanks to the significant investments made in recent years and the recent agreements that have taken us another step forward towards the future of yachting. We are proud to be recognised by our clients as an international excellence hub for large and super yachts. Our commitment to sustainable development and environmental respect is not only rewarding but also makes us feel truly at home."
Innovation for the future
Marina Genova continues to focus on innovating its services. The marina is entering into the distribution of next-generation clean energy fuels, with commercial agreements currently being finalised with international partners. The initiative is part of the marina’s ongoing efforts to remain at the forefront of the industry and contribute towards more sustainable and efficient boating technologies.
