Marina del Rey in Los Angeles County, California commemorated its 60th anniversary with a community celebration at Fisherman's Village on 12-13 April 2025. The weekend-long event featured entertainment, historical exhibits, special treats and exclusive offers from local businesses hosted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Weekend-long celebration by the water

The event drew locals and visitors to Fisherman’s Village for two full days of free activities, entertainment and interactive exhibits.

Guests were invited to explore Marina del Rey’s past through the MDR Historical Society exhibit, which featured archives of photographs and stories chronicling the area's transformation from a dream harbour to a man-made small-craft marina in North America.

On 12-13 April 2025, the festivities kicked off and continued with a programme including:

  •  Free 45-minute historic harbour tours aboard the Marina WaterBus.
  • A DJ spun classic 1960s tracks from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Face painting, balloon art and a photo booth.
  • Attendees gathered for a birthday cupcake giveaway.

In addition to the waterfront celebration, nearby businesses participated with special offers including:

  • City Cruises: $60 off a premier dinner cruise for two, valid 5 to 26 April 2025 (excluding April 18, 19 and 20).
  • La Sirenetta Café: Special chocolate-dipped frozen bananas.
  • La Marina Trattoria: A $60 dinner-for-two set menu including pasta, salad and Tiramisu, from 10-30 April 2025.
  • MDR Boat Rentals: $60/hour boat rentals on 12-13 April 2025 with no minimum rental time for walk-ups.
  • The Ultimate Escape Room: Two-player escape room experience for $60, valid 7 to 14 April 2025.
