The landmark development includes a boutique resort managed by Banyan Tree, known for its luxury hospitality across Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. The resort features 24 beachfront villas and 26 overwater bungalows, reminiscent of the Maldives.

"We are delighted to partner with Rockwell Island Development Group to introduce Banyan Tree to this exceptional destination, further expanding our presence in this vibrant region. From Phuket to Shanghai, Saudi Arabia to Mexico, Banyan Tree is going global as the advocate of sustainable travel," said Eddy See, President and CEO of Banyan Group. "The Banyan Tree brand embodies intimacy, nature and local traditions, and Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences reflects these values by embracing the local culture and natural environment, inviting guests to immerse themselves in this Sanctuary for the Senses."

Rockwell Island Development Group (RIDGE), owned by developer Rafael Reyes, collaborates with Oppenheim Architecture, a Miami-based architectural firm and global design practice, to lead the architectural design and creative direction for the development. Raymond Jungles serves as the development's landscape architect.

Inside Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences

Located on a secluded peninsula surrounded by crystal-clear waters on Rockwell Island, the development offers a tranquil escape just 48 nautical miles from Miami. The location is accessible by seaplane, private jet, helicopter, or boat, with travel times from Miami under 30 minutes and major U.S. markets within three hours.

Spanning 750-acres, the project features 54 custom waterfront residences, a 50-key five-star hotel, and the exclusive Bonito Beach Club. Future phases will include a superyacht marina, a private golf course and a members-only clubhouse.

Starting at $3.5 million, residences offer private docks, beach access and five custom layouts. Owners can opt into Banyan Tree’s rental program, enjoying seamless management and five-star concierge services. They will also gain membership to The Sanctuary Club, which provides exclusive benefits across the Banyan Group portfolio.

"Since beginning work on Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences, we have held true to the philosophy that the architecture should celebrate the island's spirit of place. Our mission has been to celebrate the essence of Bimini through design that becomes hidden in the landscape," says Chad Oppenheim. "There is artistry in the change of sky, water and light, and we translated those qualities into timeless homes and bungalows that celebrate the island's natural beauty."

Project Plans and Marketing Strategies

Construction is underway, with the first five residences slated for early 2025 completion.

RIDGE has partnered with Bonito to operate Bonito Beach Club, offering fine dining, VIP table services, private cabanas, yachting and tender services and additional recreational activities. RIDGE has also led infrastructure improvements, including water, sewage, and power facilities and played a key role in securing approval for the $80 million redevelopment of South Bimini International Airport. Additionally, in partnership with Tropic, RIDGE has secured a new seaplane terminal, expected to be the largest in the Bahamas, enhancing accessibility to the island.
